I am hooked onto seeds and it’s very evident in my posts. They’re so packed with goodness that I cannot seem to have enough of them for us. We have it in salads and green smoothies and now there’s a way for T to enjoy some crunch with a punch too with these super seeds granola bar.
I’ve used a variety of seeds and ingredients in this bar. Alfalfa, flax, chia and sunflower make up for the seeds portion of the bar. The new addition to our diet is Alfalfa, it’s known to be naturally high in many essential vitamins and minerals, including A, D, E, K, and even the full family of B vitamins. It’s apparently the “King of all Foods”!
Here’s the breakdown on how they look.
I cannot emphasise more on how effortless these bars are to make. Swift and easy, here’s one awesome snack I don’t mind Trilok binging on.
I have to mention here, I’ve used honey to sweeten up the bar and bind it. Healthcare professionals strongly recommend against the use of raw honey for infants under the age of 1 year. Now, T is a year and a half and this recipe is baked. So he is off the danger mark. However, I still do not give him raw honey and probably won’t either until he is a little older just to be safe. You could read more about the reasons for exercising caution here.
1/2 cup Instant Oats
1/2 cup Organic Muesli
3 tbsp Alfalfa seeds
3 tbsp Flax seeds
3 tbsp Peanuts, ground
2 tbsp Sunflower seeds
2 tbsp Chia seeds
3 tbsp of Bournvita
2 tbsp Ghee
Honey to bind the mix
Mix all ingredients by hand in a bowl
Then, line a baking pan with parchment paper
Press the mixture over the paper with the back of a spoon until the mix is about 1/2 inch thick, pressing into the corners and making everything even and smooth
Chill in the fridge for 1/2 hour, then bake at 200 degrees for about 20-25 mins
Once cool, slice to desired shape. Pizza cutters work real well for this
It’s perfect for little hands and crumbly enough for their messy mouths!
